Time and Voice

Time and Voice
-Tariku Abas Etenesh-

Tic-Tack

Time wrapped,
Linear seconds bent ,
Today met its end,
In its own beginning’s millisecond,
Sapient age of- twenty four hours- minus- twenty five hours,
As old as the unborn second- newer as the eternal spans;
Time wrapped and met a voice
That had been- was- and- is

Tic -tack

The voice,
Spared in reticence,
Wrapped in cajoling nuances,
Of evading,
Of formalities,
Of fear,
Orchestrating a show of confidence,
Shyly shone with pride,
Like a loose hinge of a door,
Glorifying indifference to pains of a long forgone repair;

Time said:

‘Voices that pride in being hushed,
When more deserved they had been loud and succor,
Have fallen into the fortified innocence of the goaded and veiled,
Insisting to extract  ‘phantom will’ out of a ‘pernicious real’,
Glorifying redundant chats of broken scripts of trust ,
That  hues an evanescent punctuation of history called a nation,
Into an eternal will and destiny of mankind;
That is when the sublime in human does resign,
And allow the insane in human reign;’

Linear seconds bent ,
Today met its end,
In its own beginning’s millisecond,
Sapient age of- twenty four hours- minus- twenty five hours,
As old as the unborn second- newer as the eternal spans;
Time wrapped and met a voice,
That had been- was- and- is  mine and yours.
